LifeSync · last updated 16 August 2026

The short version. Your health, fitness, finance and life entries are encrypted on your phone before they leave it, and we do not hold the key. We cannot read them. We do not sell data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

What we collect

WhatWhy
Your Google account ID and email addressTo identify your account so it can sync, and so group members can be invited and recognised. Required — LifeSync has no other way to sign in.
Your Google profile photoShown as your avatar. Stored on your device; not uploaded to our servers.
Your encrypted entriesSo they can reach your other devices and the groups you share with. Stored as ciphertext we cannot open.
Group names and member display namesSo groups can be listed and members shown. See below — these are not encrypted.
Device registrationsSo sync knows which of your devices have received what, and so we can tell you when your account is signed in somewhere else.
Reports you send usOnly if you report something. The reason, your note, and which group and member it concerns — never the reported content itself. See below.

We ask Google for three permissions and no others: your email address, your basic profile, and access to this app's own hidden folder in your Drive. That last one cannot see, and is never granted access to, any other file in your Drive.

What is not encrypted

We would rather say this plainly than imply more than is true. The following are stored in plain text on our servers and are technically visible to us:

The contents of your entries — every reading, log, amount, note, photo and file — are encrypted on your device and are not readable by us or by anyone we host with.

Your backup lives in your Google Drive, not with us

When backup is on, LifeSync writes an encrypted copy of your data to the hidden app area of your own Google Drive. It is your file, in your account, under your storage quota. We cannot read it and cannot delete it — which is why deleting your account does not remove it, and why the deletion page explains how to clear it yourself.

Group sharing

Only what you choose to share is shared, only with that group's members, and still end-to-end encrypted. You can leave a group or stop sharing at any time. When you leave, your access ends immediately; entries you had already shared with the group remain with the group.

If you report something

You can report a message, an announcement or a person from inside the app. When you do, we receive the reason you picked, anything you chose to write, and enough to find what you mean — which group, which member, and the identifier of the item. We do not receive the reported content itself: it is encrypted with a key we do not hold, and reporting it does not change that. So we act on accounts and groups rather than on individual entries. A report is kept while it is being dealt with, and is deleted with your account if you delete it.

You can also block: an admin can bar an account from a group they run, and you can block a group and leave it. A block records that an account and a group are separated, so an invite link cannot put you back in. It is not shown to anyone else, and either side can lift the one they made.

Who else sees anything

Nobody is sold or given your data. We use service providers purely as infrastructure — hosting, database and file storage — and what they hold is the encrypted material described above. We have no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs in the app, and the app does not ask Android for access to an advertising ID.

Deleting your account and data

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete my account & data. It is immediate and permanent.

If you have uninstalled the app or lost your phone, use the deletion request page — it works without installing anything, and lists exactly what is removed and what you need to clear from your own Drive.

Children

LifeSync is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how your data is handled, say so in the app.
